mixed

Has been a mixed week: carried on feeling quite sick and very tired after I got out of hospital and had a syringe driver to deliver anti-nausea for three days at home, which is not a big deal but made me a bit sore in the belly. Also had to have those neupogen injections, which may or may not have contributed to the general malaise I've been struggling with this week.

Despite the tiredness I had a good time with B's mum, esp on Tues and Weds when we did some touristy stuff, including a walk around Trentham lake on Tues and a look out at the Westport lake from their new visitors' centre.

I got my hair cut on Thursday, after Jan had set off home and got some grocery shopping today, but didn't do a great lot else the last two days .. too tired and too put off by the sleety rain to get on my bike.

Hi Susan
it has been a wet , miserable day .I checked to see if my Madeira holiday was still on and apparently it is. The trouble is , the kids have seen footage of the floods and mudslides and aren't so keen now. Felt depressed earlier today reading about that poor little girl who was starved to death by her mother . SHE , the mother ,apparently suffered from depression. The tabloids are blaming Social Services' failures and fundamentalist Islam ( apparently the girl's stepfather believed she was possessed by evil spirits and subjected her to cruel treatment whilst reading out the Koran ) I JUST WONDER IF WE AREN'T ALL TO BLAME FOR THIS SORT OF THING . How can a girl be hidden away for all that time? Have we really become such a closed society? It haunts me. Cheered myself up a little with a good Nick Hornby novel - Juliet Naked . He always makes me laugh.Sometime syou need an escape from the real world. Hope you're feeling better soon. Winter has gone on forever . Roll on March. XX

hiya - those pics from madeira do look grim, Cahty, I hope you get a good holiday

blaming seems to be the favourite thing when stuff goes wrong .. it does seem amazing that people do not notice or raise alarms when things are going so badly wrong, it's gahstly to heaer of a child literaly starved to death in a land with so much ...

Hi Sue, Sorry you have had such a rough time lately.Hope you are better now.

Yes it is awful to think a poor little girl has been starved to death, in the land of plenty. People don't always know the full extent till too late. There is 'denial' 'bystander-apathy'. Guilt can lead to the blame culture, where we pass on the blame. But the blame should be shared with various measures. It is so sad a case, + it is disgusting also. I'd better change the subject as it is quite an emotive issue.

Well Sue, just hope you are feeling better today.

Love, Cousin Pauline. xx

It's bleak feeling sick Sue.It must seem endless for you. I am meant to be preparing some notes and our tea, but neither seem to have grabbed my attention. I understand you have been up to Manchester today (saw Mum and Dad earlier)Hope all went well.
The boys are over at Holly's, now that she has moved in over the road we see her even more. I think she will move again after her baby is born.Part of me would enjoy them staying close so I can have a trial run at being a grandma!!!But I think they would probably implode in such a small bedsit space in the long term. The boys have suggested that they move in here - but that is before they have any awareness of life with a baby. Hopefully it will be an effective form of contraception. Love you Julie
