Sorry to anyone who has left phone messages on our land-line over the past few days .. but it is buggered at the moment
yes, it SOUNDS like the phone is working .. BUT NO it isn't really .. and although you can apparently leave messages we cannot access them,
or recieve calls
or dial out
And NTL are SUCH a great (sic) company (or VIRGIN blah as we have to call them now) that they cannot send an engineer out b4 next MONDAY!! And even to complain about this rather rubbish service means joining a 48 hour waiting list for someone to call me back on the mobile!
So in additition to losing the only Sky channel we really like on the whole panoplyof channels they offer (Sky sports news) and appearing to double my call costs on the phone I'm now phone-free for at least a week ..
I'm really starting to regret the switch to NTL (tho I'm still happy with the bit I've always liked, the broadband has been good for ages) I cant see that the "new" deal has really been much of a bargain ... :(

Hi Sue, That explains why I aint spoke to you 2day. I did leave mess., to say I wud visit 2day if poss., Ah well. 2 be honest I am fed up with NTL/virgin media also. My last num., recal often misses & I tested it so I no it does miss. I wud change over but I think broadband contract is fore 1yr. Anyway, we'll see.
I just hope you are keeping up your good spirits. It must feel like a prison sentence at times with no end. However, your spiritual growth, empathy & self development has flourished & you are indeed an insiration to others, many of whom are less strong & often very weak. As a role model, you do give comfort & I hope you feel good about that. I will visit eventually, honest. Maybe nxt wk. Anyway, peace & love to you & yours. Cousin Pauline. xx
Hi Susan I did read the blog on Tuesday, I rang to say we were of to Lutterworth to see Nan,and I wasnt able to write on the blog just then.Didnt know you had a phone problem rang a couple of times from there to.

Lol @ Matt. I've left hundreds of messages for you and B since you came back. Tsk. (Ok, they were probably more in my head than on your phone.)
I was so moved by your last post (and the responses) that anything I wanted to say seemed so inadequate. Well, it WAS woefully inadequate so in a way, all is as it should be. But I did make a promise to myself that I will heed your sage advice ....(as soon as this busy work period is over!)
However, when it comes to moaning about NTL, I'm yer woman! I abandoned them and their cruddy 'customer services' for the ruthless but more efficient Skysters. Ironic, really, that I now have the channels you'd appreciate so much more than we do. If I could transfer them to you, I so would.
I've just got in after the tenth 16 hour day on the trot and can hardly string a sentence together so won't try any more tonight.
*Cough* Basically .... *singing voice* "I just blogged ....to say ....I love yooooooooou."

hmm you're right about the virgin thingy ... great how they just drop it in ... we're rounding your calls up to the nearest minute as if we wouldn't notice ... and no sky one so no lost :( ... but BT wanted £120 for a line so it had to be cable ...

sorry we missed you Po - tho we've been out all day today .. mostly in TRAFFIC around and about!
I'm due to be in hospital next week ... but until they check my blood I'm not 100% sure if it will happen or not, I've no visitors during the day on Weds if you want to drive up there?
ntl robbers .. their response to my old complaint about losing the channels came today .. it was a totally corporate reprint of the one everyone must get ..
I wrote back asking how come they dont incude in their mailing advice on how to get out of the contract now they've broken their side of the deal with me ... ? I might quit cos although you do sign up for a year, they have broken their deal, so it changes the contract anyway (if you have the TV package with them .. )
their 1471 "service" is always RUBBISH - it is usually some other day of the week, and never the last call that you just missed cos they only let it ring 6 times b4 they cut in the ansaphone!
... and our phones have fancy stuff to tell you what calls you missed, etc liek mobilies do, and none of that (expensive) jazz works with the ntl cabl (in your area, madam!)

other than ntl moaning we had nice day witha trip to John Lewis and then to Styal Country Park (cos we've rejoined the National Trust) and then a quick whip in to see Mand and Pete's new home-interior and their pond .. all very posh!
