Come Dine with Me

I love that programme (perhaps a bit sad to say?)

I think I'd be a natural for it, friendly enough and enjoy cooking and eating!

I also reckon I'd be good for the comedy element .. take this Friday Night, for example, from which I have learnt these two tips which I offer to you too:

However lovely your recipe, and however keen you are to get to the table, when you've cooked it

1. make sure you turn all gas jets fully off ..

and

2. if you accidentally leave gas jet slightly on, DO NOT put plastic chopping board on top of it.

If you neglect these two bits of advice you will find yourself with a kitchen fire and two fire-engines outside for the evening ..

I kid you not, this is what happened to me on Friday evening.

I have spent the day dealing with insurance ppl, though hats off to them, the Co-Op and LV have been great so far!

oh my goodness - that must have been scary when it happened; there must have been a lot of smoke damage too. New cooker for Christmas then?

Sorry to read this. eek!

been thinking... would you be up to a flying visit this weekend?

with a boiler suit, for cleaning purposes you understand.

I may have a cooker with me.

I'll phone you.

I'm the cooker. Oh, the irony. But I am a good scrubber. :-) Jan and I could stay in an hotel overnight (see that 'an'?!) so no energy needed from you other than watching Kim and Aggie go go go ....

awwww ,

bless! well I might not need much cleaning doing, the insurance should be taking care of it, hopefully .... might all be done by then

(LOLLING muchly at idea of jean scrubbing, tho!)

but seeing you two in boiler suits would do wonders to lift my mood .. it's a lovely idea ... esp as I am really quite "strong" cos this is my extra week OFF chemo,

can you really do it or are you just teasing me?

Well, you *could* make the return journey in a day, Jan. I'd prefer to stay overnight as it's a fairly long journey from Londinium plus I wouldn't want to leave before the pyromaniac has recovered from seeing me cleaning. :-)

Indeed, jean, the mind boggles at seeing you cleaning! I need resuscitation just at the thought of it.
Can't belive your family can spare you Jan, but would be great if you can get an hour or two over here!

Oooooooooo .. even more excited!!!!!

I'll have you know I learnt my cleaning skills from the best teacher in the world - you, Miss! The library has still not 'recovered' from the spring clean you gave it. Why, I have only just thrown B's daffodil arrangement away. (They looked rather nice dried out!)

Great timing that you'll be in a chemo break. Will check out the travel logistics and get back to you.

I bet you both outdid Gordon Ramsay when you opened the kitchen door.

Hope you are finding enough pleasant food you can eat.

I know you like drama, but you don't always need to take the lead role.

plastic and heat don't mix. I learnt this when I placed Sabeel's trainers too close to the fire to dry out . The smell of melting plastic was revolting and a fairly new pair of trainers were ruined.

Thanks for lovely card by the way.

Hi there, Gosh what a mess it was. And now you have a nice new cooker. I recall in the early series of the Sopranos, Tony's mother had a kitchen fire. Real life is scary 'eh.
Hope the Insurance gets sorted out fast.

Love, Cousin Pauline. xx
