Saturday

Yesterday continued to be a lovely day, capped off with a visit from Matt and Kasia, which was really lovely. B surprised herself by doing the catering (usually MY job) and Matt was on top-comedy form, so we were all well entertained.

Today B is going up to see Stoke with Matt, and Mand is coming to see me for a couple of hours this afternoon. With the sky/sun like this I feel like I would benefit from another jaunt out .. I always feel a bit tired the day after a hectic day, and yesterday WAS hectic, so I'll have to judge my energy levels!

Hi Sue, Glad you are feeling stronger & visiting Trentham Gardens again. Trentham will be swarmed with our visitors on May Day weekend as it's been picked as a venue for the Laurel & Hardy Convention. So if you go there then you may see people walking around wearing red fezzes, some will have traveled from Amsterdam, Scotland, etc.etc.
Oh, by the way, nice pic t'other day of M.M. She has a spot in one of the college cafe's in Cauldon also. The dress would look daft on me but then I haven't got that sort of figure.
Well, I'll send you a little ditty when I find one.
Love to you + B. Cousin Poe x

The sun was really warm its dried my washing a treat Dads just made us a cup of tea.
Did you get the loo key Dad had fixed for you?
Bye for now L M xxxxx

hi - @ Kate -- welllllll I wouldn't say she was a Stoke "fan" per se, but she likes to go to football and Matt is keen so they go together sometimes (he's a borderline MANU fan!) B's home team is Charlton, but they are so grim atm that we are not really paying any attention, too painful!

@ Pauline, there were no red fezzes there today .. thought they were Tommy Cooper's icon anyway .. L&H are all black and white in my mind's eye.

@ Mum, yup thanks for your letter, and the key has come, thanks dad, you did a nice job of it

Mand has been and we did walk out at Trentham, it was so blue and fresh I really enjoyed it again ..

Well, well well. Cousin Poe is verily an education. L&H fans ARE wearing red fezzes on their website???!!! (http://www.geocities.com/lolarun2/) I imagine you and B will be going?!

I also read on their website that Sir Stanley Matthews hails from your neck of the woods. Cool.

Sorry I've not been around for the last few days. I've been staging an exhibition in our local museum called '1967 And All That' as my Borough's contribution to the UK's LGBT History Month. It's 40 years since homosexuality was decriminalised; 50 years since this was recommended by the Wolfenden Committee so it took 10 whole years to be implemented. Shocking. The press played a big part in upping the anti and the exhibition features some fascinating press clippings over the past 4 or 5 decades, documenting some changes in attitudes but overall, not as many as one would like!

The launch went well. I persuaded Madam Mayor to cut the pink ribbon to declare the exhibition open (very camp with her bling and all) and introduced the Police Borough Commander as one of the Village People! :)

Ah well, back to the present. Delighted to read about your steady progress. Hope you and B are having a lovely Sunday. Weather's bleak here in London town - hope it's brighter ooop your way.

Sending you and B lots of love,

Jean xxx
