Shopping

Me and B had a "date" today, she took me out for lunch (Bella Napoli, since you ask) and then whisked me off to the jewellers for some shopping that was as far from boring as shopping can be..

For the past 14 years B has wanted to buy me a diamond ring, and I've always nay-sayed it
(It's a genetic thing, blame my mother)
But this time she decided not to ask my opinion and just to do what she wanted to do.

She has bought me a "forever" diamond ring with ~FIVE ~ beautiful, brilliant cut gems
(five is her lucky number).

It is an antique piece that has been restored by "our" jeweller, Skelhornes in Hanley, and I am absolutely delighted with it ...

It is surprisingly hard to take a decent photo of this ring -- but here's my best shots:

Mark - this is the ring I saw four weeks ago, when you were up at the Hospital and I was excitedly talking about it!

Luckily I managed to buy it today, someone else had been eyeing it up yesterday and when she goes back tomorrow she will find it GONE!

I think it is perfect ....

What a wonderful present. I hazve taken off all my rings because of 'arthritis'. Maybe I'll get updates for my Ruby anniversary next year. Hope to see you again very soon. LOL Aunty B

Diamonds are forever, for ever ---- it's a good omen! Plus it's the year of the pig, fortuitous for everyone! B has good taste, but we knew that anyway, and the ring looks great. Celia F

Wow. Now when I arrive tomorrow I can say 'darling show me your diamonds!'...... I have just been drinking champagne and watching a Joan Crawford film with Josanne, wonderful! It's the one where she says 'luck had nothing to do with it honey!'. I am inspired! Lx

Brigid,

I remember your excitement about the ring. As you say, it is perfect.

Good job it only took you four weeks to get to the shop.

You do know that you are better than any diamond, don't you?

I know my cheek can seem relentless, but how did you get Mum's hand up to Stoke? especially as on closer inspection it appears to be living simultaneously on the end of my wrist. This family is weird.

eekk - this genetic thing is weird, innit?

tho I think in r/l my hands are a lot bigger than mum's and more of a DAD size mitt, really!

I thought it looked like my hand.

Lets just all move away from the edge, and take our respective hands with us - and NEVER talk of this again.

Julie,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Is Tuesday likely for a rendezvous?

We have been invited for tea with Sandra and Phil for Sunday evening, but if you are free in the afternoon we could meet up. Or Monday after seeing Sue and Brigid in the day. Tuesday we were planning on going back to see S&B again during the day, and then Anne, Clive and Sam are due to arrive at the hotel Tuesday early evening. Thing is nobody is mutually exclusive and you would be more than welcome to join us - well maybe not to Sandra's, not that she wouldn't enjoy seeing you but you know how tiny their cottage is. But if you fancied joining us at the hotel we could have a swim and a meal there. Any thoughts? Also I'm keen to get to Piccalinos pizza on either the Tuesday or Wednesday night. But thats open to the vote at the time.

I haven't dropped in for a while, Suze, so have just read about your up-coming chemo. I am very sorry about it, although I am glad you have the team you trust so much looking after you during it. Chin up!

I adore the ring and think it is truly lovely. :)

Much love being sent to you from me. Christine

Julie,

OK, if you are in town early enough we can see you tomorrow afternoon. Do you want to come to us en-route to Sandra's? That would be very good.

Otherwise, Monday or Tuesday are fine for whatever. Tracy seems to favour the Monday option. Wednesday is out due to previously mentioned prior commitments.

Main thing is for you to drive safely. See you when you get here.

Susan, it is Michael. Did you watch any of those DVDs? I'm glad surgery went well, and your chemo will surely eradicate all of the badness left.

Hi Michael .. I wish I'd put your name on the DVDs you lent me -- I'm sort of in a muddle with whose is whose ..!
We started to watch "All that Jazz" .. was that one of yours? but found the main man too unpleasant for our delicate sensibilities LOL ..

I cant concentrate well enough to watch anything with subtitles atm .. tho we've ot soem great ones I want to see ... (I'm hardly even reading any books .. which is so weird for me ..)

see you soon?

Hi Sue,
What a beautiful ring. If you make a wish (one wish for each stone)then all your dreams will come true.
Try it & see. With so much love around you how could it not work?
Take care & love to you both.
