Woooo - we had a great weekend, very densely packed with lovely friends and family.
We had a great time with Mark, Tracy and Luke and then whipped off to Manchester. James had the most absolutely biggest tree (as you'd expect ) and thousands of enormous ornaments to hang on it (also as you'd expect.) What you might not expect is what a good cook he is, he produced a yummy Christmas dinner for us and three other guests, with all the trimmings - which was delightful.
It was a weekend of male chefs, cos Mandy's fellah Pete made us a lovely soup for lunch on Sunday before we went to the new Hilton for cocktails. The building and the view from the 23 floor are brilliant, really stunning, but the choice of non-alcoholic cocktails wasn't very imaginative and the waiter was rather poor ... so a mixed bag ... Deffo worth a trip, cos the boozers had a vast choice of cocktails that they really enjoyed ...
book your table in advance so you can jump the queue for the lift and get a table with a window seat to take in the best views!
PS - scroll down to see the edit I did on the photos in the "for dad" post !

I can only assume that the absence of any recent comments is due to you trying to pack all your holiday cases into the very small space in the car not taken up with my TKMax bags. Of course you may be out shopping and buying further installments of the presents you have forgotten that you have already purchased. Don't forget to look on the top shelf in the study.
Hi Sue - It sounds as if the weekend was good fun (except perhaps for the booze)hopefully you will be able to catch up later. I have been busy baking blueberry muffins, Nigella's chocolate prune fruit cake and mushroom soup (for lunch) so much for me losing weight this week! Enjoy your trip to Dorset and give everyone hugs and kisses from me. LOL Aunty B
haha Julie -- I think YOUR presents might be the ones NOT packed! as it happens our Mark bought another two bin-liners of stuff up for you lot --so I am now seriously doubting that it'll all fit in!
@ barbara --ooh that sounds great -- but not much help on the calorie front to be doing two types of cake!

haha mum - there's never been any doubt about your ability to feed me up! James's food was very much like you'd do -- in fact -- he's an old-fashioned boy at heart!
Aunty Barbara, do you think that donating some of those wonderful sounding cakes to us could be viewed as part of a calorie controlled diet?
great idea, julie --- aunty B gets the pleasure of the cooking side and saves herself the calories by passing the goodies onto us .. cool!
PS - have you got your pc back working then, posting at 11 pm?
Hi Sue Dads just making a cupa, and the sun is out so its a good startto the morning.

yes the computer is back in working order so we are able to blog away with the best of them for the time being.
Mum what on earth do you mean? you haven't got time to be sprucing up Santa's run way with a mop - there's far too much ironing to be done. Take a grip. If you want an aerobic workout come down and set to with the Dyson. As I've said many times before, I'm more than happy to buy you some Dyson attachments to help you feel the burn.
there is no escaping the conclusion that I have a kind a considerate sister ... always on the look out tohelp others ..
is Dyson accesories what you bought mum for her 70th, birthday then, Ju?
yes, and a bumper bag of dusters. But don't tell her or it will spoil the surprise
Hello Girls - Unfortunately for you Cliff has polished off the blueberry muffins and I can't disappoint him by not doing the same with the fruit cake - thank you for the offer! LOL Aunty B
