Yay - another lot of chemo completed.

Rather bad news is that my white blood count has finally tipped very low, and it was touch and go whether I could have the cycle this time. I've got to have some injections next week which are supposed to build up my bone marrow and thus my white blood cells and thus my immunity ...

I'm a bit nervy about catching anything now but going to skip off to Lyme anyway .. TOMORROW!

My mouth and hands are very sore - but I look very cute with little silk gloves on to protect my hands .. I bought these gloves as thermal layering for on the bike, and they are doing a good job now allowing me to continue typing!

I'm TIRED ...

Hey there Suze, bravo to you for getting off to Lyme tomorrow, and a day of rest in between i hope... thinking of you here in Canada (and too, those injections are great, they work... and just that the low white b.c. count means the chemo is at work for you!!!)... anyhow i wave and hope you can rest and be gentle with yourself too in putting up with the side effects...i send love and cheers from montreal! and grins to b., hope she is resting too! erin

Hi Suze

Enjoy Lyme, I'm a firm believer in the power of the sea to lift the spirits, the rougher it is the stronger the effect, but having said that I do hope the weather is kind to you.

oh thank-you erin

and yes, I guess the low wbc does mean the chemo is at work!

B has been ill again herself, so I am trying not to catch her germs .. her doc reckons its a virus, but in any case I can do without anything of the sort!

Is this "Lyme" a posh new name for Newcastle? ;-)

Sorry to hear about the bad news -- but it sounds like everything's under control, and your fighting spirit will deal with any bugs that are around!

Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Sue, Soz you are so tired & B poorly also.

It makes me realize how good health is to be treasured. I wish I'd never smoked a fag in my life but it's just one of those things.

Keep up the positive thinking & have a lovely holiday both of you.

Lots of love. Cousin Pauline. xx

Blimey - I was really pleased to read Erin's post! Once I thought about what she said, I realised you should probably ask for your money back if the white blood cell count DOESN'T fall after each chemo treatment 'cos that's one of the things that happens with chemo, isn't it?! That's why you feel tired mid treatments and maybe depressed - when the wbc count is at its lowest. So the injections of growth factors speed up their return to fight any infection. What a rollercoaster - you seem to be riding it so graciously - big up to you, Suze.

And a big hug to B - I hope she's feeling better. Wishing you both a really splendid time (but don't overdo it now and call a doctor if you get a temperature!)

Much love and faux motherly clucking,

Jean xx

hi, thanks for the email and the comment on the blog! :-)
Hope you have a great break and I think that change of scenery will be beneficial! :-)

PS. Stoke trashed Leicester today 4:2 but the playoffs are still unrealistic! It was a great game to watch!
