Home

hi there

yes it is good to be back -- I didn't need anything from the hospital that I cant get better at home --Brigid is the best nurse and such a trooper
I think a lot of the thanks for my speedy mobilisation goes to Erin's idea of making a pre-op tape which we used over and over to power my recovery .. I lost hardly any blood and kept up my deep breathing even tho it hurts a lot cos my abdominla muscles have had a right old push and shove on the operating table

I can't pretend to feel good - in fact I feel pretty grim .. I'm stuggling to sleep, can't lie down at all, have to try and sleep upright and get the most ghastly wind all the time which is so sore and intractable,
anyone know anything that will help? in addition to what I am doing:
taking maxalon
trying to keep moving as much as I can
sucking on strong mints ...

We've had Mark here overnight which was good - gave us a sense of security, butI'm not anxious about my revovery ..
love to you all and thanks for cards, flowers, etc .. (we really don't need any more flowers atm!)
xx cheers
suze

Home again, how wonderful is that. I'll bide my time but I'd love to talk to you in person. Although if my pre op contact is any judge I'll spend more time crying than expressing my sheer joy at your speedy initial recovery.
Your gut is compaining about being handled so much during surgery - it calms down with time, and in the short term what you are already doing is great. Have you tried warm water with either a drop of peppermint or spearmint essential oil. 'Fragrant Pharmacy' p381 suggests you add a pinch of bicarb of soda to it aswell. Love you both, Julie xxxx

welcome home! just amazing that you're back so soon!

yes, the fragrant pharmacy is a great book. take care with essential oils though 'cos they're very strong indeed.

a drop of lavender on your pillow may help with the sleeping and if you're allowed baths, a warm one with 3-5 drops in the water after it's been run.

lots of love, x

Hi - re. post op discomfort . After 7 ops , all involving General Anaesthetic and two of them abdominal all i can say is it is a grim period , wind esp bad after my C SECTION , ( massage helped me as did warm baths , soft , comfy PGs and good books ) . It passes though , the pain goes, the scars fade ( mine are hardly noticable now ) and you do feel great again .

HOLD ON IN THERE - LOVE CATHY

Welcome back home suze, a drink of crashed fresh ginger in hot water sometimes helps with trapped wind.

Keep on the good work of this speedy recovery, well done to B too.

Hi Suze
Welcome Home! I can certainly sympathise with the trapped wind. Hope you're feeling better very soon.

There are two ways of interpreting that, you see he could be portrayed as a chauvinist who treats marriage as an act of domination, but on the other hand their is the matter of him actually being able to love kate,

Which would you say?

aye - I KNOW him, don't forget!

I once saw a brilliant production of Taming the Shrew where they mananged to make the ending seem like a real equality had been reached between the two -- very impressive - the bit where he says let me stand on your hand and she just goes to let him but somehow the audience knows he wont ..
dunno how they did it .. long time ago

Glad to hear you're well, I apologise for the lack of a card but I realised of the many things I've come to know about you your surname isn't one of them. ;)

It was a wonderful card as well with all sort of cute things on it and everything.

The lounge now has another fan Charlie and me having lunch there today...I guess I'll have to make do wuith her until you are better

Take care

haha Sarah - hi and thanks for your good wishes -- when've you ever seen me tell ppl off for lang use in forums? Not my style --

weellllll except 4 with Keiran, who is actually my student and who says he's going to study English but still muddles his use of "your" and "you're" !!!

hi there jean - oooh literary debate -- the text is so misogynistic for so much of it I think most ppl find the idea of reconciliation at the end hard to swallow -- but that production I saw really pulled it off,
