Out for a week

Doesn't time fly!
It's hard to believe I've been home for a week ... !

visitors
Mand came round for a couple of hours Friday, after work and then James and Kris called in yesterday afternoon so I've had some quality visitors -- and lovely new flowers!
James is SO exhausted from bobbing about and working between London, Manchester and Geneva that his "man-flu" obviously rendered him more ill than mere words can possibly express (well he expressed it but I am sensitive to my readers' needs!)

sleep and food
I managed a full five hour un-interrupted sleep the last two night, which was groovy and have eaten well again .. we've been poring over our nutrient books and seeing what is good for tissue repair, etc. In fact I was fascinated to notice that I kept asking for dishes with onion and leeks and it turns out they are good at blood thinning (anti-thrombosis) which is a very-good-thing, post-op.

recovery
I am keeping up the doses of pain killers, but I think my muscles are easing and it is not so hard to breath now. My scar looks very good, mending well, but my skin around the stoma is very sore. I sometimes find the whole stoma-thing quite hard to deal with, really, but otherwise I am obviously on the mend.

cards
lovely card from Toby today - it was presented as another home-made get-well card, but I can't help wondering if the primary purpose was contained in his ps: "only 10 days to Feb 5th"
.. ie their birthday! LOL

Please dont suffer sore skin, what are you using? Suggestions to you - cavilon spray, orahesive powder, osteomart lavender cream(excellent),trust me they will make a difference, also leaving everything off for a while a day helps (tissues to hand!)All available on prescription free, but your stomas nurse may have some. Do you have an email? My name is Jan.

Meant to say that you are still very very new at this stoma lark and it will be overwhelming but hang in there, you WILL manage and it will soon be second nature for you. I can tell you lots but not on here!!!

Hi Sue, Glad you got some sleep. I can't think of any med tips I'm afraid. When in doubt, use nowt. Plain water & maybe a hairdryer on cool setting might do the trick. Tissues might make you sore if you rub-a-dub-dub. Maybe if you dab-a-dab-dab instead. I'm sure you do anyway.
I'll skip the poetry this time & send you one next time.
I had quite e chat with your mum & dad 'tuther day. I do want to visit you one day but it will be a little while yet as I have a mild, low lying cough, which could set you back a bit.
Anyway I guess the sewing is a good idea. I find it quite theraputic. I do alterations though, not arty stuff. I have a book you may like.
Dan Brown's Angels & Demons. Would you fancy it?
I don't have Da Vinci Code now as I lent it out long term. A cracking read, but it is of an individual taste.
Keep up the good spirits & it will get easier as time is the great healer.

Love to you & yours. Cousin Pauline x

Hey blogger - keep on bloggin'(sounds like a dodgy single from the 80's).

How are you feeling? Me and Kasia saw an enthralling 0-0 draw at the Brittania last night. Well worth the money. Is it still OK for me to come on Friday?

Don’t worry I am here now x

You’ll all be glad you hear that I am better. x

I no longer sound like Barry White with a sore throat!

Did any of these remedies work? There ought to be a remedy league table set up so we can empirically and scientifically judge the success. Of course when one reaches the top we'll have to move the goal posts! Isn't that what always happens?

All great tips though. Thanx Jan people like you make the t’internet great.
