C+R finish minus 3

There we are 3 days to go. Feeling fine.

Humour
Example of humour from the radiotherapy waiting room ... we've all been hob-nobbing there together for a few weeks now, and share a bit of chit-chat each day. As we all turned in today the chat kept reverting to the miserable weather, then one fellah says, "oh well, it could be worse.." and another one goes, "Yeah, we could be dead .. "
and strangely this makes us all laugh like drains!

Wedding snaps
Seeing Jean (cosmolina) mention our Civil Partnership (aka wedding) in the comments has tempted me to post a pic of said event:

here we are - many of these are "usual suspects " whose names or comments appear often in this blog:

back row boys are
andy, james, woolfie and matt

lovely ladies are:
liz, jacky, B, kasia, me n mand

lovely looking lot, eh!

then cos jean was busy taking pics all day, here is a pic of her taking pics ..

Hey Suze, how fab that the C+R is nearly all over and done with...and still with a smile on your face, so impressive! I've been busy busy busy at college these last few weeks with UCAS, courseworks and various random meetings but thought it was high time I dropped a comment to remind you I hadn't dropped off the face of the Earth haha.

Missing seeing your face around college more than ever now...particularly today when Kieran did his old trick of picking me up *grr* ...Celia just laughs and despite all my kicking and screaming I remain powerless. Nevermindy.

It's great to be able to put a name to all the faces of people commenting on here too - although I'm not commenting too often I always make sure catch up on the latest!

Must dash now but you'll be hearing from me soon no doubt

Just popping in to say hi. I am keeping up with your progress on here and glad of the chance to see how you are, even though I find myself unable to think of anything to say that matches the warm feelings I have towards you and your progress! The Partnership pictures are lovely. :) Christine

hey Charlie - great to hear from you - what did you settle on for your UCAS in the end? I'll have a word with Celia ... or maybe with Jean and get her to really hi-jack him into servitude as she keeps suggesting in her comments! He'd know what harassment was if Jean really got her hands on him .. apart from that - DO tell the boy I'm missing in him in here.

@ jean does posting a pic of your admirable arse count as harassment? I could always post the one of you with the horn -- or maybe I'll keep that in reserve till you go too far again... hehe.

@ christine .. ahh, bless you - you are a sweeetie ... maybe we'll get to meet each other one of these days - it IS strange this feeling of knowing each other but never meeting .. dja know me n jean met through tinternet ... and we've great pals even though we dont meet in r/l very often ..

@ Keiran -- oh dear :(
I'm not getting into that debate about man-handling girls again -- but I can say with some authority that you are mis-reading Charlie's eyes!

Lets start a new argument -- it is my considered opinion that you shouldn't be working 6 times a week while you are at college .. cos it will seriously muck up your grades ... but hey ho -- you wont take any notice of that either ... I expect!

I miss lessons too (tho I'd like to think we occasionally did more than laugh in them *roll eyes* )

I really enjoy working with "you young 'uns" and I miss the daily interchange with students now that I am at home all the time :(

... btw those versions of LRH are great -- did you get the Angela Carter one where she gets into bed with the wolf? One of the oldest written versions of that tale (1729) was printed with a very explicit warning on the end, dunno if Celia showed you that
one, but here it is:

The MORAL
From this short story easy we discern
What conduct all young people ought to learn.
But above all, the growing ladies fair,
Whose orient rosy Blooms begin t'appear:
Who, Beauties in the fragrant spring of age!
With pretty airs young hearts are apt t'engage.

Ill do they listen to all sorts of tongues,
Since some enchant and lure like Syrens songs.
No wonder therefore 'tis if overpower'd,
So many of them has the Wolfe devour'd.
The Wolfe, I say, for Wolves too sure there are
Of every sort, and every character.
Some of them mild and gentle-humour'd be
Of noise and gall, and rancour wholly free;
Who tame, familiar, full of complaisance;
ogle and leer, languish, cajole and glance;
With luring tongues, and language wondrous sweet,
Follow young ladies as they walk the street,
Ev'n to their very houses and bedside,
And though their true designs they artful hide,
Yet ah! these simpring Wolves, who does not see
Most dang'rous of all Wolves in fact to be?

So what sort of wolf are you K?

im the kind of wolf that follow young ladies as they walk the street :P

Celia did show me that one, we did it in class :D

Charlie is my LRRH :P

I know i shouldnt, and soon i will stop and cut down to three or four....at the moment i am working lots of hours for the christmas period, then i will have more money and be able to afford not working as much :D so ya see, i am kinda listening to what you have to say :P

We did do more than just laugh in your lessons yes, but that was a big part...the two L's.....Laugh and Learn :P

Been for any more walks recently?

Hey Susan, I'm glad you're doing so well...I laughed very much at the humour in the waiting room. :-D

On a complete digression after reading the comments on this blog...I have The Bloody Chamber! I think I'm supposed to be studying it at some point this year in English Lit, but I don't know when. Anyway, it's very good.

Lots of love,
Laura

hey laura -- I had quite an enthusiasm for Angela Carter at one stage, she is very "big" on magic realism, and (adopts Amazon sales pitch hat) if you liked that you might like Jeanette Winterson's early work such as The Passion (tho who knows who likes her recent stuff, too pretentious for me! )
