I went up for my first radiationtreatment today - the staff were lovely, quite different to the strange crew I saw last week, which is a relief.
You dont feel anything when the rays are sent in, and obviously it is too soon for side effects. In any case they reckon if I follow their "Skin-care" advice my skin won't get too sore.
Afterwards, I saw Mike Woolf in town, he was full of his trip to Copenhagan on a fact-finding thing about architecture and being more Green in our town planning. They have made Copenhagan a really bike-friendly place.. Stoke could learn a lot!

B likes me to do the numbering of the post titles, cos she is a scientist, so I've sort of agreed to try it out -- but I cant see me using numbers for titles every day ... just ever so slightly boring, innit!

Don't knock the scientists - after all English Language is virtually a science!
PS Kieran's spelling is terrible - is he one of your students?!

Hi Suzie,
It was really good to see you both on Firday -- you know Suzie you looked really well! I do hope this part of the treatment goes well.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both - feel free to get in touch if I can help!
Ian.
@ Matt - only a virtual science, I think most scientists would say ...
@ ian - yes, indeed. It was good to see you and the others out on Friday -- I appreciate your prayers and we will be in touch if we need help --
In fact - one thing you could do is tell me the details of the walking group, cos that is something we'd been keen to do b4 I found out about this cancer diagnosis .. which day of the month is the walk on? and where is the next one ? .. etc!
I was sorry to have missed you at the theatre on Friday. I had been to see the show the previous night but went up on Friday to have a post theatre drink with Keith and David. I'm glad day 1 of this round of treatment went well. Do follow the advice on skin care. I'm sure it will help. You're doing brilliantly so far. Love to you both.
Glad things went ok for you today, been thinking about you.
As for "the strange crew" from last time, and "sending in the rays", are you sure you didn't take a wrong turn somewhere in the hospital last week and you actually went onto the Starship Enterprise?

Hey, it would appear that blogworld is the place to be... :)
Glad to hear first radio treatment went okay... (well as okay as I can imagine it being)... It does all sound very space-age. Modern technology eh, never ceases to amaze me.
Hope you're feeling okay today. I've taken to checking suzeblogworld before my work emails of a morning. Just had a set to with the boss because he suggested my work emails were more important, and he wasnt paying me to "faff about". Safe to say, after my little outburst in reponse, he is now nursing his wounds in his office. Dont think he'll be bringing that one up again in a hurry! :)
Men eh... sometimes you just gotta put them in their place. :)
Lots of love - thinking about you xxxx
Sue I was very aprehensive about this radio theraphy so I was very relieved when you told me last night it wasnt painful.Ihope
Susan i was very aprehensive about this radio theraphy so was very relieved when you told me it wasnt painful.
We may skip of to Weymouth on the bus being a pensioner as its perks a free bus pass.
Im not very good at spelling either.
Lots of love to both of you L M xxxxxxx
@ Ali - it IS very space-agey .. I might try to get a photo - but they are so BUSY and have to whip patients in and out on a very speedy schedule I guess is might be too time-consuming!
hi - Sam - you made me laugh with that! good on ya girl ... and YES this IS the place to be -- welcome onboard!
Hi Little Mummy - don't let your spelling put you off posting - hope you and dad had a good day in Weymouth - bet there's some sea mist - we've even got some here today ... The radiation is totally painless at point of delivery ... I understand I'll get more sore as time goes on .. but it's ok as you get the zap..
TODAY they were even early, I was out of there b4 my apointment time .. GROOVY!
hey Sandy - fancy going up there TWICE! Sorry to have missed you then, but I'll fix up a meeting with you soon -- bearing in mind your pref for Fridays, but not next week cos it is 1/2 term ...
God, the more I read the more I just want to come and give you a big hug...
So, work with me here...
(((((((((((SUZE)))))))))))))
... this is the best I can do in the cyber sense.
:)
Thanks Sam, I can feel it!
How often to do come back to Stoke these days?
Good, I'm glad! By the looks of that beast of a radiation-table thingy, you need it. :)
Re. coming "home" as often as desired/necessary/requested as a general rule of thumb. I've perfected Manchester to Stoke in around 38 minutes, so I'm back on average at least once a week. You know me, never could stay in one place for long... im a wandering soul me!
You know, I think my ratio of work to blog-reading has hit the 10:90 point today. I am officially addicted to your story! Its so nice to see posts from your students. :)
The RT department IS lovely and so are all the people who work there! You can tell them I said that too; not that they'll know who I am. The only downside is that we can't go in and make cups of tea and pinch the biscuits now but you can't have it all ways.
